Frequently Asked Questions

What counts as an orthodontic emergency?

At Paige Orthodontics, emergency or comfort care for non-patients is designed to relieve immediate pain or discomfort caused by your braces or appliances. This includes minor issues like a poking wire, a loose bracket, a loose or broken coil spring, a loose fixed retainer, or a loose appliance (such as a TPA, Expander/RPE, Lingual arch, Nance, or space maintainer).

What should I do if a wire is poking my cheek?

If a wire is poking or causing discomfort and you are not a regular patient of ours, you can schedule a specialized comfort visit with us. For a flat fee of $250, our team will safely clip the poking wire to provide you with immediate relief.

What if a bracket comes off?

If a bracket comes loose or completely off, we can safely remove the loose bracket during a non-patient comfort care visit to keep it from floating around or irritating your mouth. However, please keep in mind that this visit does not include repairing or replacing the broken bracket, as no orthodontic adjustments or ongoing obligations are made during comfort hours.

Can I come in without an appoinment?

While we now open our doors for comfort care during scheduled hours, we highly recommend calling us directly at 281-358-6580 before driving to our office. This allows our team to verify schedule availability and ensure you can be seen as quickly as possible without a long wait.

I swallowed a bracket. Is that dangerous?

This is generally harmless and will pass naturally. Seek immediate emergency care if you experience choking, chest pain, or trouble breathing (it may have been inhaled). If you are a patient of ours, please contact our office to replace your broken bracket.

Do you help with emergencies for patients that already have braces at another orthodontist?

At Paige Orthodontics, we understand that orthodontic discomfort can happen when you least expect it. If you are not a patient of ours but are experiencing issues with your braces or appliances, our team is here to help provide quick relief to keep you comfortable until you can see your primary orthodontist. If you wish to become a patient of ours please scroll down to the last question in the FAQ section.

Do you take patients already in braces?

Yes, we take transfer patients. If you already have braces or Invisalign and would like our office to continue your care, we are happy to help. You can not book online and must call us at 281-358-6580 and pay $150 to be evaluated. This is because evaluating an ongoing case is more complex. We do not take over the care of patients who are currently in treatment by an orthodontist in Kingwood, Porter, Humble, and Atascocita, but we are happy to help you with an emergency/comfort appointment. New patients who are not in braces or Invisalign may book online or call and there is no fee to be evaluated.
